Another crazy book girl

2009/06/04

Last year Tessa read the first Harry Potter book and begged and begged and begged us for more. Her being such a young pup we were hesitant to let her plow through all seven books. So we told her that she could read one book each summer break. Well, today was the first day of summer break and she read the whole book clean through. It's going to be a long summer now :-)

WOW! What can I say, but WOW!

That is totally amazing. I bet she reads one and two again before the summer is out. Has she read the Penderwicks? Not quite as gripping, but really fun. She'd probably like Nimh, too.

Why are you holding her back, may I ask? Of course there are lots of other good books out there and then you have a really wonderful bribe in your bag of tricks.

It's mostly her age. She's only eight and those books seem to intensify pretty quickly with regards to scariness and such. She is normally pretty easy going on imagination issues, no bad dreams or worries, but lately she's been a little more sensitive in that way.

Our deal with Alec was going to be the same, but he also devoured the 1st one over Christmas break, then the 2nd one in a few days around Spring Break and I finally agreed to let him read #3 this summer--he's done too! (Not in one day, but it's going to be a long summer because that was the last one we said he could read this year). Isn't it great to have a kid who loves to read! She's awesome!
