Year in Review 2001

Dear Friends & Family,

What a year! Our lives are completely different than they were 365 days ago, except the obvious fact that we’re still in Phoenix. But more about that later. The banner event of the year was the birth of our beautiful baby girl, Tessa Juliet. She was born February 22 and has been the center of our universe ever since. She is strong and beautiful and fun and smart. Everyone says how much she looks like her daddy. She’s up and walking around the furniture now, no doubt she’ll be running soon. She’s picking up on some words now too, our favorite is her ability to “dance” on command.

Dave got to fulfill his childhood fantasy this Spring by working for a major league baseball team. He was the translator for two Chinese prospects for the Seattle Mariners during Spring Training. It was a pretty big deal as they were the first players from China ever to play professional baseball in the U.S. No doubt the Mariners fantastic record this year was due to Dave’s positive influence. And speaking of baseball, go Diamondbacks!!! Dave began working for Market Solutions Group in June as Operations Manager. They are a small market research company specializing in financial research. So of all the places we looked at and pondered over, it turned out to be right here in the Valley of the Sun that we are destined to stay. He is enjoying his job very much; it definitely keeps him busy.

Amber has been able to keep her job as an Institutional Research Specialist at Glendale Community College, now just working part time. She works at home, going to campus once a week for meetings. It’s great to be home with Tessa and to continue the career she enjoys so much. Something comes to mind about having your cake and eating it too.

We bought our first home in August, just in time for another move in the deadly heat of late summer. We’re at the very north end of Phoenix now in a lovely area with lots of growth. Ah, suburbia! Our home is about four years old and has been very well taken care of. It’s a tremendous blessing and we’re grateful for it every day (even if we still don’t have any furniture). Our first big project was to paint Tessa’s “jungle” room. It turned out fantastically, but sadly it’s a room we don’t spend a lot of time in other than to change diapers. We’re really excited (and daunted) and the prospect of decorating and furnishing all the rest of the house.

We wish the best to you all in your every day lives and hope that your holidays are jolly. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
